Starting new

I want to settle a few debts and fix my credit. I owe money to Target,JC Penney's, Premier Bank, and now AT&T. And I just finished a ten year bankruptcy on my credit report. Who is a good company that can help me settle these debts in one monthly payments. My credit score is in the 400 and I want to better it. My kids will be finishing school in a few years and I want to start new with no debt and get a brand new car. Can anyone help me with this. I'm a single mom receiving SSD. I can make payments, but not big ones. If pos I would like to get help in the city I live in and talk to a person face to face. I don't trust doing this kind of thing over the phone.
Thank you Penelope Madison,Al

Penelope,
Beware: Most companies advertising debt settlement or negotiation are scams.
Alternatively, you can call a reputable nonprofit credit counseling agency (they are free). They will identify and explain your debt repayment options and help you with ongoing budgeting. The National Foundation for Credit Counseling's direct agency referral number is 800-388-2227. This will connect you to an accredited agency in your area. These agencies maintain strong service and case management quality standards. There is another association, www.aiccca.org, that is a network of counseling agencies that also abide by strong quality standards. Their network number is 866-703-8787. These steps are tiring and take time but won't cost you any money. Getting on top of your financial situation will make you feel empowered and you will feel more secure with a reputable counseling agency.
