I was having trouble with Vista Print's interface for ordering checks (not that Vista Print's great, but when I regret not doing business with them it says something). So I looked around the web for other sources of 3 per page business checks with stubs. Checkworks name sounds serious. And since they advertised IN CAPS: FREE SHIPPING (plus 29.95 for the checks, that was slightly better than Vista Print and I thought go for it. I filled out all the forms and agreed for them to debit the cost from my account and thought I had ordered....I 'm not sure where they placed the little notice, but AFTER submitting I realized that they were adding on a $7.50 handling fee they never told me about, so 29.95 checks with free shopping went to $37,45. That;s not minor as a percentage., but i guess they figure most people won't want to spend time arguing about $7.50 and they'll win.. I don;t roll that way, so I wrote back: "Your handling fee is both sly and exorbitant. You clearly state $29.95 for the checks and FREE SHIPPING and then tack on $7.50 in fine print that takes a magnifying glass. Unless you remove this I will not reorder from you and will leave negative feedback on line." Since time was of the essence I was willing to pay the fee and take the checks but never order from them again: Come On, FREE SHIPPING in caps but the $7.50 "handling" fee in microscopic text? Handling fees are so 70's. I thought they'd at least justify their position, maybe give me a ten percent off coupon for a future order, or ideally say you're right, we'll cover the handling fee. But, NOOO. I heard nothing back but only learned (several weeks later) after going to the account) that they had simply cancelled my order without telling me. So now I am in a scramble to get checks. Idiots. I didn't deny the charge, I just complained about it. When I got a hold of them they had the nerve to say: "We are an 80 year old Financial printer and we value the Integrity of our firm. (except if we cared we'd take care of our customers) "We appreciate your feedback regarding the website and we have forwarded your email to our website development department for improvement consideration. (which will never happen because the sales sharks run the show). "We regret since we Guarantee All of our customers our lowest possible prices we are unable to extend special discounts to Certain customers. (Jeez, but Vista Print can sell it for less, and it's the specious handling fee we were talking about not product cost, don't you think :handling that means shipping it out after printing it, is part of your job? How else will you sell it? You don't sell custom checks at the corner store. They've got to be handled, just as Amazon handles everything it ships. Do you see a charge from them for that? You are very seventies. "We have canceled your order and you were not charged as it appears the final amount was more than you intended to pay for your checks. Please note our online order status will not reflect this cancellation status. "We know you will appreciate the Superior Quality (HAHA...hahahaha) of our products and the Free (Hunh?)Fast processing So fast processing is Free, but handling isn't? I'm beginning to smell a class action suite here) and Shipping. (sure didn't ship fast to me) Note we are including 300 checks per box with this product, while other companies are only including 252 checks per box and charging more (actually everyone in the price range is doing 300 checks),. In addition we are a California company and all of our products are manufactured here. (I am sincerely glad it's not bangladesh...but there can be rip off swines in California too, and you are one of them. If we can be of further service to you please let us know.
