Switching to Preferred: Terrible Business Decision - would give NO STARS if it was an option
Let me preface this by saying I am not a Yelper, I have had been meals and bad service before, but I have never been so compelled to set up an account to warn other potential buyers. Today I am. A few months ago now I received a phone call from preferred altering us to their cheaper alternative to AT&T. It seemed great, good customer service, a central call center where I could get the same tech on the line day after day and get a quick phone call. I was very happy with the switch until we received our first bill that amounted to an approx. 20% increase over what we had been paying AT&T. I called to inquire and they stated that apparently our usage was not compatible with their low rates so it looked like I might need to switch. I wasn't under contract so there would be no penalties -- if I tried another plan with a potential to get my bill back to what it had been (I was willing to forgo the originally promised savings to not have to deal with the hassle of switching) there would be a contract that I would face penalties for switching if it didn't work out. So I shopped around and found a new company. Since switching, we have, not infrequently, picked up the phone to find that one of our lines is without a dial tone - almost as if it hasn't fully disconnected from the previous call. We have multiple lines so it hasn't been a terrible issue until today. This morning our primary line was not working when I arrived at work. Typically when this line is busy, incoming calls jump to the secondary line, however when this line doesn't work callers just hear a busy signal. I called tech support and spoke to a woman who said she would send someone out. She asked for our business hours (9-5:30), she then came back and said she would have someone out by 7 (1.5 hours after we close. I asked to have calls forwarded which she said they were capable of doing, but couldn't promise that it would be done since tech support was scheduled to be out today. I'd leave my number like the person below for more details, but my PHONE DOESN'T WORK.
