Review 5/11/2010
This company lies and engages in incredibly deceptive practices. I went with them because I see their trucks everywhere and thought how bad can they be? I wish I had done more homework. On the phone, they are very friendly and tell you you'll be paying for experienced workers who are fully insured and that's what sets them apart from other companies. They give you a price per hour on the phone, and should you choose to hire a third person (which will supposedly make the work go faster) it will increase your bill by $36/hr. It sounds simple but it's not. Upon arrival, they make you put down a deposit more than you're "expected" to pay and then double that charge at the end with hidden fees like workers' comp insurance. I did choose to add a 3rd person at the last minute because they told me it would go faster -- which should have only increased my bill by $72 -- and this person was inexperienced and clumsy. Moreover, the service overall was slow; it took 15 minutes ( that I was billed for) to fill out paperwork and debate with the driver who tried to tell me it was a three hour minimum instead of a two hour minimum (a call to the office ended that) -- then another 20 minutes at least for three men to move a single couch out to my storage pod. By the time these workers got done with a one bedroom apartment that was only moved out the "big stuff" to the driveway (I did most of the boxes myself), the bill came close to $600. Minutes after the movers left, I called to complain, left messages for a woman named "Melanie" more than 4 or 5 times during the week and got no response or even acknowledgment of "we're looking into this." I finally called the main desk and was transferred to the voicemail of another woman who eventually called and told me to email Melanie. When I finally got a response to my written complaint (over a month later and after numerous phone calls and three emails) I was told by Melanie that I should have read more carefully the fine print in the moving guide that was mailed to my house since it is impossible for the guy to remember everything over the phone to give me a fair estimate so things like additional charges that might more than double your bill can apparently get missed with the guy you're making a deal with. All I was asking for was a refund of the worker's comp at least -- a total of $54 -- and I was met with snarky retorts that told me just how this company views its customers. A total rip off and I wished I'd looked into more reviews. It was quite possibly the WORST experience I have ever had with a company, let alone movers.
